Deep Strange is a Nashville-based creative team dedicated to out-of-the-box storytelling that defies norms and sparks curiosity. Our work spans film, live theatre, and performance art, often blending elements of humor, horror, and sci-fi.
We also believe in art over ego, and that the best creative process is one that is kind, collaborative, and – most importantly – fun.
Who we are
We’re Kara McLeland, Hayley Rose Maurer, and Madeleine Hicks, the brains behind Deep Strange. Rooted in DIY theater and fringe festivals, we’ve spent over a decade making the weird and wonderful—on stage, on screen, and beyond. From writing and directing to music, props, and production, we do it all, turning bold ideas into reality. We love pushing creative boundaries, telling stories in unexpected ways, and never taking ourselves too seriously.
